Gray Fire Department (ME)
The first successful water-powered woolen mill in North America was the Mayall Mills, established in 1791 in Gray, Maine, by Samuel Mayall.  While the Upper Mill was destroyed by fire in 1886, the Lower Mill continued operating until 1902.
