Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company (NJ)
Ship Bottom, New Jersey gets its name from a shipwreck and a dramatic rescue that occurred in 1817. A schooner navigating in fog ran aground. Captain Willets and his crew rowed out and found the overturned hull of the ship. They chopped a hole in the hull and rescued a woman trapped inside.
